The Vineyard

This is a land at the edge of the world, the southernmost point of France. At the foot of Omu di Cagna (a mountain massif rising to 1,215 metres), the Figari vineyard produces wines of strength, character and remarkable finesse.

From planting to vineyard management, everything is carried out with the utmost respect for the land and the vines. Cultivation methods remain deliberately traditional: all work in the vineyard and harvesting are performed by hand, without the use of herbicides, synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilisers.

The winemaker maintains constant contact with the fruit, carefully selecting and comparing each grape to achieve the highest quality. The estate has been certified organic since 2002 and biodynamic since 2006.

At Clos Canarelli, human hands respectfully continue the work begun by nature.

Grape Varieties

Clos Canarelli boasts an exceptional ampelographic heritage. Alongside the traditional Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu and Vermentinu varieties are the rarer Minustellu, Carcaghjolu Neru and Genovese. Reintroducing these endemic grape varieties was a challenge that Yves Canarelli successfully embraced. This richness, encompassing fourteen grape varieties, contributes greatly to the estate’s reputation.

This rich diversity is complemented by a unique climate shaped by strong winds, which influence the vines and allow them to produce wines of remarkable freshness and elegance.

Significant temperature differences throughout the growing season, ranging from 10–12°C at night to 38–40°C during the day, bring freshness and balance to the wines.
